QBQ Compliance® is a British company formed by a small number of individuals with many years experience in data management, information management, software design and system design. The individuals also knew that experience is insufficient unless it is allied with a constant wish to learn and the application of intellectual rigour.
The first objective of QBQ Compliance ® was to ease the drudgery of gathering complex data for the assessment of individual requirements and liabilities. This involved an interactive question and answer process where the next question to be posed was based on the responses to previous questions. When the gathering was complete, again defined by rules, further rules made the assessment. An audit trail was incorporated so that any adjustment to a user's responses, possibly to achieve the right assessment, was overt.
This use of rules is applicable in many circumstances, not just interactive data gathering, but in the whole area of reconciling IT systems with the perspectives of business users of information. Benefits include not only the formal definition of business rules in natural language to be automatically executed by software but also more easily controlled IT development with substantial cost savings.
